  11. If you have registered LOGit, you will also receive LOGITCFG.  Use LOGITCFG
  12. to enter your name, serial number and code key(1) that you received from
  13. DYNAMOUS Software.  You will also be able to change the default options and
  14. use the 'registered options' not available in the shareware version.
  15.  
  16. If you received your registered version from a distribution diskette, copy
  17. all the files from the distribution disk to the directory on your hard disk
  18. where you keep your DOS utilities.  For more information concerning copying
  19. files, refer to your DOS manual.
  20.  
  21. If you downloaded your registered version from the bulletin board, unzip
  22. the files contained in the archive to the directory on your hard disk where
  23. you keep your DOS utilities.  For more information concerning unzipping,
  24. refer to your PKWARE manual.
  25.  
  26. If LOGit and the configuration program are in your PATH you can execute the
  27. configuration from any directory.  If it is not in your PATH you must
  28. change to the directory on your hard disk where you keep LOGit and the
  29. configuration program.  For more information concerning your PATH, refer to
  30. your DOS manual.

  32. At the DOS prompt type:
  33.  
  34. c:\utility>LOGITCFG
  35.  
  36. A colorful and easy to use menu will appear.  There are seven fields you
  37. can change to configure LOGit suit your needs.
  38. The general features of the configuration program are:
  39.  
  40. ˛ The top of the screen contains the title, LOGit Configuration.
  41.  
  42. ˛ The bottom of the screen contains a one line help message about the
  43.   current field you are on.
  44.  
  45. ˛ The F keys to save your changes and to exit the configuration
  46.   program are also shown at the bottom of the screen.
  47.  
  48. There are seven input fields on the screen:
  49.  
  50. ˛ Field one should contain the exact name that you used to register the
  51.   program with DYNAMOUS Software.
  52.  
  53. ˛ Field two should contain the serial number you received from DYNAMOUS
  54.   Software.
  55.  
  56. ˛ Field three should contain the code key1  you received from DYNAMOUS
  57.   Software.
  58.  
  59. ˛ Field four can contain your default prompt message rather than the
  60.   default "LOGit was executed at:" which is standard.  Use this option to
  61.   change the default message you in your log files.
  62.  
  63. ˛ Field five can contain the full path and name of the default log file
  64.   you would prefer to create rather that the default LOGIT.LOG in the
  65.   current directory.
  66.  
  67. ˛ Field six can be toggled between APPEND and OVERWRITE.  Append will add
  68.   a new entry to the log file each time you execute LOGit.  Overwrite will
  69.   delete any previous log file and create a new log file with the last
  70.   time LOGit was executed.

  72. ˛ Field seven allows you to set the maximum number of lines to keep in a
  73.   log file when using the APPEND mode.  The range is between 0 and 99
  74.   lines.  If you enter a 0, then no limit will be maintained for the log
  75.   file.

  77. The are many advantages of setting or changing the defaults for LOGit.
  78. This will allow you to use it  in your batch files without supplying any
  79. command line options.  You may still override the default option by using
  80. any of the command line options.
